Windows Only: Because Autodesk Inventor is Windows-only, Inventor Nesting is also Windows Only.
Calculation Intensive: Nesting algorithms (calculating the most efficient layout of shapes on a sheet) are mathematically complex. While standard Inventor requires a good GPU, Nesting requires a Strong CPU.

💡 Performance Advice for Inventor Nesting Users
RAM is the Critical Bottleneck:
To create a nest, the software must open every single .ipt (part) file in the background.
If you try to nest an assembly with 500 unique sheet metal parts, Inventor must load all 500 parts into RAM.
Recommendation: If you nest large assemblies, 64 GB RAM is highly recommended. 16 GB is often insufficient.
CPU Core Usage:
Unlike standard modeling (which is single-threaded), the Nesting Utility includes a Multi-Core Nesting Engine.
It can calculate multiple sheet layouts (studies) in parallel. A CPU with 8+ Cores (Intel Core i7/i9 or Ryzen 7/9) will complete a complex nesting study much faster than a quad-core CPU.
DXF Exporting:
A common workflow is exporting the nested sheets to DXF for CNC cutters.
This process writes data to the disk. Using a fast NVMe SSD significantly speeds up the "Export to DXF" process.
Mac Users:
Not Supported: Inventor Nesting cannot run on macOS.
Parallels Desktop: It is possible to run this on a Mac via Parallels, but due to the high RAM requirements of loading multiple parts, you must allocate at least 16GB–24GB of RAM just to the Virtual Machine. This requires a Mac with at least 32GB+ of Unified Memory.
